Meet the Leawood Dentists
Dr. Abbie McKnight
Dr. McKnight grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and was raised a Cornhusker. She attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate degree, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology. After college, she returned to the Midwest for dental school, receiving her DDS from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1997 and her Advanced Education in General Dentistry degree in 1998. At that point, she joined Dr. Schutte and began the partnership that has since become Schutte and McKnight Dentistry.
Dr. McKnight met and married her husband, Dr. Sidney McKnight, while she was in dental school. Together they have 2 sons, 15 and 11, who are very active in academics and athletics. When not driving kids around, watching games or cleaning up after them, Dr. McKnight enjoys reading, running and traveling to visit friends and family.
The community of patients that the practice has become over the years is what Dr. McKnight enjoys most about dentistry. Coming to work gives her the opportunity to connect with friends, new and old, and to help them preserve their oral health. Restoring teeth and creating beautiful smiles gives her a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction.
Dr. Megan Konz
Dr. Megan Konz grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and attended high school at St. Teresa’s Academy where she played basketball and soccer. She continued playing basketball and soccer recreationally at Creighton University where she earned a B.S. in Health Sciences. After college, Dr. Konz attended dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. During school, she was a teaching assistant, member of the advanced studies program in restorative dentistry, and worked on a federally funded grant to promote inter-professional communication in order to provide collaborative care to patients. Dr. Konz graduated from dental school in May 2016 with an award for Excellence in Prosthodontics.
In her free time, Dr. Konz enjoys reading and cooking. She stays active by running and walking her furry child Layla. She stays involved in the community volunteering at Kansas Mission of Mercy and Missouri Mission of Mercy. She also coaches a Special Olympic basketball team.
In the office, Dr. Konz stresses patient education and preventative dentistry. She enjoys constructing healthy, beautiful smiles and the problem solving involved in surgery. Working with patients brings her great joy and they are always treated like family.
Dr. Lynne Schutte
Dr. Schutte grew up in Westmoreland, Kansas and did her undergraduate work at Washburn University. Her first career in the healing arts was not in dentistry, but as a medical technician. Though she enjoyed the challenge of aiding in the diagnosis of disease, she realized that she desired more client interaction. After marrying her husband Bill, she enrolled in the University of Missouri-Kansas City dental school in 1979. After obtaining her D.D.S., she began her second career and has enjoyed that doctor-client interaction for 32 years. She has maintained her enthusiasm for dentistry by seeking out continuing education through workshops and seminars, including the Pankey Institute. She has also affiliated herself with several local and national dental societies such as the Greater Kansas City Dental Society, Fifth District Dental Society and the American Dental Association. Her desire for philanthropy has taken her to mission trips in Jamaica and Honduras, along with participation in the Kansas Mission of Mercy program for several years.
Outside of the office, Dr. Schutte enjoys spending time with her sons, Zach and Mitchell, and takes any opportunity she can to ride her bicycle. She also enjoys reading, exercise, travel and being outdoors with her black lab.
