Meet our Leawood Dental Team
Carol grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas, where she met and married her husband of 21 years, Anthony. Her husband served in the U.S. Army which, soon after their marriage, took them to Washington state. It was there that Carol attended dental assisting school and worked in the Fort Lewis Dental Clinic. When her children arrived, Katelynn and Noah, Carol took a break from dentistry be a mother. She looked forward to returning to the career that she loved and joined Schutte and McKnight in 2010. She enjoys being part of the family atmosphere that both doctors have established. Seeing how much pride and care they extend to every patient and team member makes the daily drive from Leavenworth worthwhile! In her spare time Carol loves to read, decorate, and spend time with friends and family.
Deva grew up in Northeast Kansas on a hog farm. After graduating from high school, she went to Kansas State University, receiving a degree in Animal Science. In the mid 90’s she decided to change careers from agriculture to dentistry and graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 1999, starting her hygiene career in a general dentist’s office in Topeka, KS. Six years later, she joined the Schutte and McKnight team. Being able to provide a service that is needed is why Deva loves dentistry, striving to better educate and customize care for her client’s individual needs. Deva enjoys running marathons, trying new restaurants, reading, visiting family and friends, going to the gym, sporting events(especially K-State games), and loving on her two dogs. Deva feels blessed to be a part of a team that is very patient focused, caring and progressive. She feels that when a client walks through the door they will know they are welcome and leave knowing that our care is outstanding among dental offices.
Julie grew up in Raytown, Missouri but has lived in Peculiar, Missouri for the last twenty years. She joined the Schutte and McKnight team in 2012, having worked in the dental field since 1978. Julie is the smiling face you will find at the front desk. She is excited to help with all scheduling and financial needs and is grateful that she has found her niche as this office offers warmth and true caring of the entire staff. Julie feels strongly that both doctors do amazing restorative and cosmetic dentistry and is very proud to be a part of this wonderful team!
She has a passion for horses, tennis, and spending time outdoors in general. She has plenty of opportunity to be outdoors, living in rural Peculiar! Her favorite time is time spent with Ryan and Chad (her adult sons), and playing fetch with her big yellow lab, Marley.
Mindy has been a hygienist at Schutte and McKnight since 2006, when she graduated from the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Dentistry. Making an impact on people’s health has always been a priority for Mindy. As a child she wanted to be in healthcare, being most interested in prevention of disease rather than treatment. Dental Hygiene provides her the opportunity to make small changes in someone’s routine that can have significant, positive impacts on oral and overall health. She also loves being a hygienist because of the long-term relationships that she develops with her patients. Mindy loves working at Schutte and McKnight because patients and staff are always treated like family. Every opportunity is taken to make patients feel comfortable, always striving to exceed clients’ expectations.
When not at work, Mindy enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling as much as possible, and enjoying the outdoors. She is originally from Wichita, where much of her family still resides, but she now lives in Shawnee with her husband Jeff, two young boys Ethan and Connor, and her “furry child” Cooper.
